No, problem, bigwawao.

It may not be getting the IP address so you could manually configure it.

JC or bigwawao, do you know how to put in your own static ip address in XP?

I've seen the place where you input your own IP address. I can probably find it again.

My niece is coming for a visit tomorrow and is going to bring a USB wireless adapter with her. We'll see how that goes.

Dear rocket,

I have tried the static ip with no luck. BUT i did fix my problem without actually looking to fix it. You gave me the tip to go to the dlink website, idid so but could not find any help there. On a webpage I said, "hey why not upgrade my router's firmware? " So i opened a browser to my router but forgot my user and password. After an hour, I decided to reset the router. NOW ALL my computers would not connect! After resetting 2 more times, I decided to literally unplug both the router and the modem. Had a cup of coffee and reconnected both devices. All computers reconnected! As a hunch, i ran to the basement (where I tinker with stuff) and connected my Window's ME computer and lo and behold, it said " new router detected ". I then used the Win 2000 computer and again it still connected. The HP XP machine I have not tired yet but i feel confident that it will work. Maybe JC can just try to reboot both router and modem. Leave them uplugged for at least a few minutes (that's what some forums suggested) then reconnect them. Rocket, thanks a lot.
