I have a netgear SC101 NAS here is a link for more info about it
http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/NetworkStorage/SC101.aspx I was able to map a drive to my computer on the LA N successfully, however no computers on the wireless LAN can even find the node. I can't map the drive using an IP. The only way I can map a drive is by using the utility provided by netgear ( I'm able to ping the NAS's Ip though). This is where my dilemma comes in. It scans only on the subnet the node is on. I've tried setting up rules to allow communication between the LAN and WLAN, as well as port forwarding. It uses UDP port 20001. I even did a forward of ports between 1 - 60,000. I've tried everything. I contacted netgear about it, but all they said is "won't work on a different subnet", which I had already read on their support page. I searched through these forums, and found a post saying a bridge between the LAN and WLAN feature. IF that feature is Network > My Network Tab > "add bridge" button, I've tried that. Would anyone know of a hack/workaround for this? What about manually adding a route in the WLANs node's routing table? Any suggestions would be great I'll keep working on this and post any progress. Note: I love my z100g, keep of the good work zone alarm/checkpoint/sofaware. |

Try running the wireless setup wizard and selecting "Bridge Mode"

I talked to "Live Help" and he suggested the same thing. He said I needed to update to 7.0.48, because I was getting a DHCP error.
I do wish there was an alternate way, because I like having my wireless separate from my LAN. I think I'll run the packet sniffer on the z100g to see what these udp discovery packets are doing. As for now I think I'll stick with the WLAN and LAN being on the same subnet, and wait for the weekend to fiddle with this - off to work! Many Thanks Sofaware! |
