You should not remove the anti-virus from yuor computer. There are other ways to get viruses than from the network. And even gatewayu antivirus cannot be perfect.

And if your computer is a teveling machine (laptop), then it will be on other netowrks that do not have antivirus.

Gateway anti-virus is part of a defense in depth.

I also like to know this, not because I want to remove the host based AV, but because:
1) I'd like to make sure it's a different vendor than what I'm running on my desktops and
2) I want to make sure it's not provided by Kaspersky. I've found Kaspersky A/V conflicts with some of applications used by my company's SSL VPN and even causes system instability (which is ironic because the company's smaller UTM devices run Kaspersky A/V engines).

The zonealarm Z100G Antivirus uses the open source Clam Antivirus. Apparently, alot of Unified threat management appliance like the Z100g uses clam antivirus.

Seriously? Considering the yearly subscription charge I figured it would be a top-tier vendor like Kaspersky, F-Secure, McAfee or Sophos. Bummer... luckily I'm really more interested in the IDP and Deep Inspection updates than anything else. I guess it makes sense since Checkpoint tried to acquire SourceFire at one point - they must really believe in their projects.
