I was upgrading the WAN at work and the ISPs engineer had a wireless router with a very cool feature. You could add one of the USB or PCI mobile broadband cards and give it an Internet connection. There are several applications for this that I can think of off-hand including construction offices and in an RV.

Are there any plans to add this capability to the Z100 or a future version of it?

You're right, both of those applications make sense. I deploy a similar device called the Ericsson FWT25. It has data and a single voice line. I use it for temporary setups, but its not something you would want for your primary service.

I don't think it makes sense for the Z100G because the aircard is not likely to see much deployment in the residential space. To use an aircard you have to be in an area that has 3G or better technology, and what you will find there is pretty good broadband coverage at higher speeds and lower prices. If someone wanted the aircard option as a backup, you would be paying more for your backup than you would for your primary circuit. Heck, look at the complaints about the one-time additional $70 for 10 more users on the Z100G. Can you imagine these consumers wanting to pay $30 -$60 per month for something they may or may not have to use?

The Ericsson is best device I've seen so far. Do you know what was deployed at your site?

it was a Linksys wireless router. I did not get the model number. We did not actually deploy it, but he had it in case we needed a small network with Internet access during a WAN upgrade. For emergency work such a device would be wonderful.

This feature is currently supported on the Safe@Office and Edge devices, the Z100G has 2 USB ports used for connecting Printers and can also be used to backup/restore the configuration & certificate to a USB Flash Drive.
