Eric,
I am subscribed and I assumed that the name on the right of the screen was the name that referred to my current IP address - sadly this seems not to be the case. I already have an account elsewhere for DDNS and would like to continue to use their services. You seem to be denying the end user the right to make their own decisions over their own computer and network by not having the usual ability to configure that service in the Z100G I get the impression that Sofaware think the home user is less demanding than a business user. I suspect that a lot of people use their home computers to test the water without giving away to much. So the first impression a home user gets of hardware/software flavours what they will accept/use in the office. I cite "free" UNIX in universities as the downfall of Digital and VMS. That analogy is the same for home users / corporate users IMHO Of course. |

We offer DDNS as a subscription based feature - if you would like to suggest to have this open for other DDNS providers I invite you to open a new thread in the suggestions forum.

Keep in mind this response isn't necessary the same as the issue being discussed but does assist in resolving the need to have another DDNS service and provides the flexiblity to allow you to have any domain name you want.
It is possible to have a Domain reference the DDNS address assigned by the DDNS subscription feature (since the DDNS is a static one assigned for your device). First register a domain address (ie: somethingYouWant.com) and enable Domain forwarding from your host provider. Have it point to your DDNS subscription address assigned by zonealarm z100G. After the DNS is propagated, you should be able to access your device using your own domain, thus not really needing another DDNS service. Pros: You get to pick your own address to your device Cons: You have to spend money to get your own custom domain name and keep up the renewal. |
