In order to do mediat sharing Directv has informed its user community that at least one computer and the router on eaxh home networ will have to be intel viiv compliant. Is the Z100G/ and will it ever be? anyone know?
Otherwise according to directv one will not be able to use the cpabilities of thier new networking offering |

Last i read Viiv is only a computer/pc thing. has NOTHING to do with routers.. Actually Viiv is a marketing gimmick of Intels with a certain specification level (and insisting on Intel chips for the processor AND network)... Im guessing a reasonably well equipped AMD computer would suffice if it has the performance level to match Viiv.. AMD calls it something else...(Think its AMD Live Now or something)

Viiv requires an Intel ViiV compatible router to work as it interacts with the Directv website for its functionality. It returns an error "The router on this network is NOT compatible with Intel ViiV technology" and then terminates.
Is the Zonealarm router going to be compatible? anyone know? Any workarounds? |

I have never heard of a Viiv compatible router.... If intel is refering to Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) then NO it does not/will not support it... In many ways UPnP is a security risk... If intel is referring to a particular set of ports then the ZA Might be able to support it with some tweaking.. There is NO INTEL INSIDE (that I know of).. in a ZA100.. HENCE NO VIIV |
