Any PC Gamers here?

I just got my Z100G this week and now I get consistently get 800-1200ms pings on my favorite BF2142 servers that used to ping in the 100-150ms range (all my favs of course). I have turned off the V-Stream gateway A/V, no difference.

I setup "Allow and Forward" rules for all the official list of BF2142 ports to my gaming PC from the WAN (the official EA games support site list is below), no difference. I have now removed the rules since they didn't do any good.

I also use GameSpy Arcade to query the master server list and join the servers and when it pings multiple severs simultaneously (to speed up the process of ping 1200+servers it can ping x number at a time - a setting you can change based on your connection type/speed) to get the sever list I see I get "Network quota exceeded" errors. I have Cox and have the highest bandwith you can buy so I attempt to ping 60 at a time since that's the highest DSL/Cable setting.

I changed the Firewall security level to "Low" - no difference.

Anybody have any ideas?

Do you know that the Z100G also has a IDS built-in? Try looking around Smart Defense Tab in security settings.
Im a gamer, but my gamer rig was given to my son.. so I'm computerless right now (only my trusty notebook to the usual stuff, but no gaming).
I hope you can solve your problem.

Thanks, I'll check that out right now.

I know one thing, if they want this to be a big home market router they better get some kind of games-ports rules put in to allow gaming traffic.

A white-list of known popular games ports and the ability to pass those packets to particular or all computers would be nice. I am envisioning something like a game-port white-list with custom game-port build ability and/or a gaming mode you could turn on and off.

Update - Problem solved!!

I tried again last night and I don't know if it was the new firmware update to 7.0.39x or not but everything seemed to work fine. I still get bad pings back when mass querying the server master list but if I refresh individual entries I get normal ping ranges back. I suspect that has to do with a restriction on simultaneous pings to multiple servers being restricted by the firewall but I can live with that.

So, I take back all the stuff about letting gaming traffic through, don't know if the update fixed it or there was some other problem with ISP infrastrucure that night or what but it's all good now!!!!
