Purchased my Z100G in December and quite happy with it. I do, however, have a coupe of suggestions I hope some folks in the firmware development team will take a listen to as I think it would add much welcome functionality to the Z100G:

1. WebCam support: this would make the z100g great as a remote monitoring device. Allowing owners tod monitor your home from anywhere by logging into the admin panel from a web browser. Also, it would allow people to broadcast their webcams to anyone.

The hardware seems as though it would be sufficient for this so it could be implemented via firmware. The ASUS WL500gP, for example, already supports this type of functionality (among some others).


2. USB key for log storage: as it stands now, I believe you need to specify a connected (and running) system to store the z100g's logs. This is not very convenient as most folks won't necessarily have the specified system running 24/7.

It would be great if one could simply plug a USB memory key into one of the USB ports and specify it as the target for backup storage of any/all firewall/router logs and snmp events.

It seems like such a waste for many users who don't use USB printers to have those ports just sitting there unused when a firmware update could rectify that =). Anyhow, I hope that the zonelabs/sofaware folks will consider adding this functionality to the Z100G as it can only help the success of this fantastic puppy! Keep up the great work guys.

Actually the ZA100 does not support SYSLOG.
It has been suggested in the forums already and it seems to be on the to-do list....

It be nice to dump em to USB..dont see it happening immediately but you never know..

Personally id like to see some NAS capability out of those USB ports....

The question is though, will the firmware development team consider adding new functionality to the Z100G? I would certainly increase it's popularity on the market and with existing owners.

My #1 wish for the Z100G at this time would be to add the webcam monitoring functionality. My 2 USB ports are just sitting unused :(. Other than that, I'm loving it though.

Thanks for the reply..I certainly hope we do see some of these considered as I love my Z100G and would like to recommend it to more friends and colleagues.
