Last year I replaced my router with the Z100g and it just came up for renewal causing a few questions.
My assumption was that with this router I could now eliminate the Zone Alarm Security Suite subscriptions on my two PC's. However, Security Suite does a weekly scan but I see no evidence that the 100G does this, in addition the weekly reports that are e-mailed indicate that virus and spam are not subscribed to (despite my renewal three weeks ago and an e-mail confirmming that I am registered). Relatedly, I cannot access my.firewall. The page that comes up has only a login window (with "admin" already filled in the username box). None of my geasses for username and password work. So the questions are: Does the 100G replace Security Suite? How do I get anti-virus and anti-spam to work? How do I get access to my.firewall? Any help would be appreciate. |

I'll take a stab at these 2078TM.
1. No, this is a perimeter network security device that should be the first level of defense, but it does not scan your systems. It only prevents what it can in the first place. End point security is highly recommended as there are other methods of infection than the internet as well as no product can be 100% fail proof. That said, I would recommend both. 2. Anti virus and anti spam are enabled through the router interface but that is moot until you solve... 3. The firewall login. If you don't know your password then you will have to do a hard reset per the manual instructions. It may be an issue that was discussed last fall about passwords not working with certain updates and perhaps a browser or browser add on. I cannot remember the details so I would try a hard reset since it doesn't sound like you have been able to create custom settings. Once you fix the password issue you may have some time before it completely updates all the necessary components including the antivirus/spam signatures. the rocket |
