Hello everybody,

I have now since a week the Z100, so far I'm happy with it.

But: since a week I've observed that the router drops the PPPoE connection unexpected.
Sometimes after 10/15/20 minutes, 1/2/3 hr., 10/20 hrs... and so on...
Even if I'm connected, downloading something and so on.

This never happened with my old setup/ routers.
Attached to the Z100 is the same DSL-modem.

It seems for me, the reason is the Z100.

I have FW 7.5.42x, a static-IP and "connect on demand" is off.

Does one have an idea what's going on?

I need a reliable connection (and this is not a DSL/ ISP problem), first for my mailserver, second it makes me crazy when it's connecting again while I'm downloading something!

Please help!

Thanks in advance,
key

P.S. Even now it's losing the connection...!!!

I would like to understand a few things
1. how are you setting a fixed ip on the pppoe connection (is it through the isp)
2. when it disconnects what do the logs say?
3. does it connect back immediately or it takes time.

What modem do you have? If it is a Westell327W you will need to put the modem in bridge mode. I had connection problems for 6 monthes. Called bellsouth last night and they helped me put it in bridge mode and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Hi Sagy,

well, I have a PPPoE, static IP, the PPPoE login name gives me the static IP. Little bit different.
(BTW, I'm in Germany).
So far I had never problems with this setup before.

But, I think the problem is related to SSL:

Everytime I try to access a HTTPS site from inside, the router drops the PPPoE, then connects again.

This also happens when I'm trying to update my system (I'm on Mac) - suppose it also goes thru port 443.

And, also if I try to access my mail server from outside thru port 443 (rule is on, allowed and forwarded), the PPPoE line drops.

So, my opinion is, something goes wrong with the SSL access.

Do you have a persistant IP not a true static IP? (ok if i got the term wrong, its technically a DHCP reservation IP)... Basically you login via PPPoE and it gives you the same IP via DHCP? Would like to know how/if you resolved the problem you were having.. And if so post the solution up... I recall DirectTV doing something like this (DTV DSL NOT DTV Sky)

It's a static IP.
But, I do login with PPPoE and I get the same IP-address. Don't think it a DHCP. It's the way the ISP (German Telekom) handles this with static IP's.

BTW, I still have the issues (even after the last firmware update .45), it's very annoying. Can't isolate the problem and also Sofaware (the are very helpful - but in this case we don't have a solution).

The only thing I can say, it's not only HTTPS, even HTTP!
