I am again having a lot of issues with my cable modem connection dropping out. I have set up a Linux router/firewall and it doesn't seem to have the problem. I now want to use my Z100G as a wireless access point routing onto my LAN with a default route to my Linux router.

How do I configure the Z100G with no WAN connection and a default route to a LAN address LAN? That lets me keep using the LAN switch ports on the Z100G without having to deal with the double-NAT issues that may occur if I route out the WAN port to the new router and keep other devices on the LAN behind the Z100G.

Do the NATting on the Z100G only. Make the Linux device a simple gateway passing all needed traffic on to the Z100G without any NATting. The public side of the Linux box will get your PPPoE public IP address. On the private side of the Linux box put a static IP. Between the two security devices put a network hub or crossover cable. Then put an IP address in the same range as a static IP on the Public side of the Z100G using the private IP address of the Linux box as the gateway address in the Z100G. The Z110G public side network connection will be "LAN" instead of PPPoE. Put in all of your firewalling in the Z100G. Use a different range for your secure network.

The IP addressing and device path would be somthing like this:

External IP<<-Linuxbox->>192.168.1.1/24<<->>Network box or crossover cable<<->>192.168.1.2/24<<-Z100G->>Secure IP (example 172.16.1.1/24)<<->>secure network
