I can't seem to get communication on my wlan with this device. I have another computer and a wii working. I thought I'd try here first to see if anyone had any tips before trying Brother's support.

Thanks,
Brad

I got it to work with an ethernet connection. If anyone has ideas to hook up wireless I'd appreciate the advice. As of now neither device has to go!!!

As an ex-president would say, "I feel your pain!"

I spent hours trying to get a Brother HL-4070CDW to work wirelessly. No go. The problem is with the Brother printer, not the Z100G. Making matters worse, one thing lacking from the printers wireless setup is the capability to use WPA2.

To make a long story short, I reset everything, configured the settings manually (adhoc no less) and the printers wireless still would not work (of course, NOT using WPA2). This was done twice, once with the factory firmware, and once after updating (all) printer firmware. I then decided to call Brother support. One hour later, after following their instructions to the letter, still no wireless.

What I decided to do (now in "screw it" mode) was connect the printer to a Z100G switch port, setup a network object for it (using MAC filtering) and setup appropriate firewall rules. Printer works like a charm from two desktops (Vista & XP) and a laptop (Vista) on our home office network...and we can use WPA2 wireless.

Personal opinion: From a color laser printer standpoint, the 4070 is outstanding, but Brother needs to get their wireless hardware/firmware working if they want to market printers that are "supposed" to be wireless capable. Last check today: no new firmware yet, and this was 6 months ago!
