I'm trying to setup a rule that allows my wireless laptop to access my LAN. I tried various versions of rules but can't "see" or even ping my computers in either direction. I don't want to use a Bridge cause I don't want to compromise security. Can somebody please explain how such rules have to be setup or point me to a source that does that. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in this forum nor was I able to find a usable description in the help files.
While I'm on this subject, does anybody has any experience with hooking up a Roku Netflix player and/or the Squeezebox Duet to the Z100G? Does that require any rules if connected wireless ?
Thanks for help

Hi:

Double Help!!

I'd been successfully using the z100g for over a year now and have connected several laptops to my network through the WLAN. Last week, it stopped working. When I went into the 100g, I noticed the WLAN setting was missing from NETWORK ==> My NETWORK settings line. Eventually I hit reset on the router and it came back. But since then I've been unable to connect to my LAN. I've tried both from other networked computers and from the Toshiba notebook. There's no sign of either from either. It connects to the Internet fine.

What's going on. It seems like some sort of rule. I've tried a number, but nothing is working. The WLAN Bridge is on and I even just ran through the setup again.

I have to agree with others who are frustrated with the z100g -- I am not even close to a nerdling, but I've got a basic understanding of computers. This puppy is way too complicated for the average user and I would never recommend it to anyone.

Nonetheless, I'll keep using it. I'd really appreciate any help anyone can offer to set a rule that allows two way LAN access between my Toshiba and the rest of my network.

Thanks!

George

A few suggestions.

You might try removing the
lAN/WLAN bridge, reboot, and then putting it back.

If you have a recent, pre-trouble, backup of the Z100 you might try to restore it.

Or you could reset it to factory defaults and redo it from scratch.

KBR:

I thought of that very thing after I posted. Zapping then re-creating the LAN/WLAN bridge worked. Thanks for weighing in. I've now had several mysterious blips, but everything seems to be working again.
