I've just installed the TivotoGo 2.5.1 desktop client to download shows on the Tivo DVR to my laptop. I opened all the ports listed in the Tivo tech support article in the Rules section of the Z100G. When I try to connect to the DVR through the TivotoGo client to read the list of shows on the DVR, it fails. I spoke wiht Tivo tech support for an hour and they say everything looks good. They have never experienced this before - since it appears I have all the right ports open.

Anyone else using this with Tivo?

I use a TiVo with mine but I haven't tried the TivoToGo but have you verified that your wired and wireless networks are bridged? I'm assuming the Tivo is probably wireless and the desktop is wired? If this is the case you need to bridge the two networks in order to allow communication between them. I believe the options are on the Network tab in your settings. Unfortunately I don't have access to my device at this time or I would tell you exactly what to look for.

thank you for your comment. I have a simple case, my Tivo box is connected via Ethernet cable. And I've been connecting the laptop via cable also, to keep things simple for now. Ugh. Frustrating.

Not sure where to turn next. I have used TivotoGo previously with a linksys. I like the Z100G, but i have no idea how I'll ever get it to work with Tivo, since I don't really have any options to try / leads to follow up on. Does Sofaware offer telephone support? Or paid support?

I have 2 tivo's and the z100g. I'll try to remember to check my settings and report to you. It's works because I recently ran out of disk space because I forgot tivo-to-go was running and copying a favorite show every week.

My major hassle is I have one tivo wired and the other wireless. I don't know if it's after an automatic update or what - but I have to go into the z100g's network settings - advanced - and hit apply to get the tivo's to see each other. I have to do that about every week or two. I don't make any changes on the z100g - I just have hit APPLY on the z100g's advanced network settings.

PS - What's really cool is by using the slingbox I can view my tivo at home from the office.

I spent time with Sofaware tech support today - Olga, and we still cannot get it to work. My laptop can Ping the Tivo box, but when I try to get the list of shows on the Tivo, it fails and says it cannot communicate with the DVR. ??

Maybe sofaware will come up with something tomorrow.

Stan, did you have to do any complicated setup on the Z100g? Are you happy wiht the Slingbox video quality when viewing remotely?

I looked at my rules and there is nothing special about the Tivo. I had some issues with the second TIVO on the wireless but my primary wired tivo has no issues. It could be a windows problem. Would look at a couple of things first -

1) Make sure in WINDOWS services that the TIVO Beacon is running and scheduled to start at boot time.

2) See if your software firewall is not blocking the TIVO. Turn off the windows firewall.

3) Eliminate the zonealarm router and connect the PC directly to the TIVO with a crossover cable. Going into bestbuy a crossover cable is expensive. See if you can find a cheap one. Can the tivo and pc transfer files without the zonealarm in the middle.

4) Can you ping the tivo?

5) There was one time with Vista did not work with TIVOtogo. I think that's fixed now.
