I have a Z100G at my church. We use it for a homeless sheltering project and for general use by whoever walks in.

The Office manager of the homeless program has a computer and VoIP telephone line. It just occured to me that if her computer was turned off and a bunch of Sunday-schoolers hopped on the network then if came in to do some work or use her VoIP phone it might not work as a result of all the licenses being consumed....

So... IS THERE A WAY TO "RESERVE" NODE LICENSES for specific devices? I do not want the office manager "bumped" off the network ;-)

thanks,
Jim

That sounds like something a lot of people could use.

A way prioritize the connected machines, added as network objects, would work. Say allow network objects to connect by bumping non-network objects.

Yeah ... it would be great... I'm going to go turn it in as a suggestion unless somebody comes back and says something like ...

"It's already there silly person ... here's how you do it" ;-)

I am now afraid I have unleashed a potential timebomb on the poor program manager....

I didn't think of what might happen in that regard... I'm not sure how to work around it if it does happen beyond rebooting the router and hoping she would be one of the first to re-conneect?

Thanks,
Jim

Or perhaps something that gives the user of the network object a way to logon to be granted access - much like the popup you get when you try to go to a restricted site.

Bump the one that has has the least amount of internet traffic over a given time.

That would work too!
I just turned in both suggestions on the suggestion forum!

Thanks!

If you all see that a feature like this gets implemented let me know, I will do the same, in the mean time I have shown the office manager how to do a soft reboot of the router and have "assumed" that this will get her back on the network ...

Some type of reservation or bump feature would be sweet since we do have the ceiling of 5/15 users.

Thanks all,
Jim
