Is the Z100G firewall ICSA-certified? I've seen other Check Point products on their list, and I wonder if certification is planned for the Z100G.

Should be a fairly easy thing to get, considering its pedigree.

Maybe it can get certified, but tell me if any home user need an ICSA certified product?
Do really pays out the huge amount of cash, time an resource to certify such a product?
Is the home user willing to pay the gap betwen a certified product and one that its not certified for a security product thats gonna be at his/her home?

I know nothing of the costs of getting ICSA certified, but if you spend a million dollars getting a device certified, and sell a million devices, then the added cost per device is one dollar.

Since it is likely that the vast majority of spam bots are running on home computers, it is obvious that home security needs to be improved. If ICSA certification can help do this, then the cost would be trivial compared to what is happening now.

simonuca,

You're right ... it wouldn't matter for most home users. But I work from home, and it matters to me. The last router I bought had an ICSA firewall.

KBR,

Fortunately, the cost of certification is more like $25,000 (see A Peek Behind the Curtain).

Check Point has certified some of their products through the ICSA. It may have marketing advantages for the Z100G, too. It would certainly back up its claim as the 'most secure home networking solution'.

OK, I got a response back a while ago from Suzanne Diggins, which said:
quote:
Hello Ken,

Regarding your two questions about the ZoneAlarm Router...

* Is the firewall ICSA certified?
Yes it is. If you go to: http://www.cybertrust.com/about_us/alliances/ you can see that Check Point is an alliance of ICSA.

* Will it work with Vonage?
And yes, the appliance will work with any type of internet connection. Dialup, DSL, Cable, T1

If you have any more questions, please let me know!

Best Regards,

Suzanne Diggins
