Newcomer is interested in turning off logging for a particular message being received every 10 minutes. Appears to be just clogging the log. Blue color message "WLAN client: 00:14:A5:DB:1B:EB, received group key (TKIP) from wlan network" Is it possible to turn off or why should I be interested in monitoring this action? Or is this indication of a configuration problem on my end? I know my laptop is always on my network.

Did you ever get an answer?
It seems I always have a question that someone else asks, but there is no answer for it. There is something about the iPod Touch that triggers dozens of these messages. The result is an effective destruction of important messages as they roll off of the logs. |

I believe this log entry is in your event log, ignore it. Most people get this in their event log. The wireless clients renegotiate the encryption key every ten minutes.
Now if this was the security logs, you could write a rule to not log. Godd luck! |

I don't know about the original poster, but SchroE46 misses the point entirely for me. I can't ignore a logging event that happens so often that it pushes all other log messages out of the log.
I have a busy WLAN, thanks in part to the iPod Touch WLAN behavior. The result is that the log onboard the Z100G is filled with nothing but these meaningless WLAN messages. I send the log events to a syslog server, but my setup currently doesn't provide 24/7 syslog server coverage. The result of these WLAN messages is an effective denial-of-service attack on the Z100G's event log. And although other people may ignore the event log, I find it important to know when someone tries to log in as root, when new firmware has been loaded, or when the Z100G is rebooted. |

PressToMECO, I understand your concern. The original post by damps was a concern of a configuration error and your concern is more of a overwhelming syslog, I feel the same way.
It would be nice to have a configuration of the network object (or event log rule) to suppress this communication. I believe the real issue is a result of the iPhone/iTouch renegotiating the wireless connection every 10 seconds, which is a real pain in the ass. DoS is a bit overkill here. You can grep the results for items of concern, best bet is to script & schedule it. |
