I've tried for the past three weeks to get a response from Sofaware tech support on a login problem - no response ever. I've gone thru ZA tech support as well and they say they can't contact Sofaware either tho they gave me a case number and promised to try. Is anyone home in SWare support????
Any advice would be helpful....Lou B. |

I don't know the why of it, but my primary email service did not allow sofaware emails. I re-registered with a gmail account and had replies almost instantly. So maybe try registering or sending from a different email service.

Thank you both - I had tried several email accounts and retried registrations. I finally got the account reset and a password from Sofaware just today. This has been a tough three weeks - funny thing is I just went out last night and bought a D-Link router.
I think the idea of an updating subscription service for an additional layer of security is a great idea - I just think the Z100G product is not really ready for primetime. Too many hassles and too many functions missing that we have learned to take for granted from other manufacturers. Good luck! |

I have not been able to initialize my Z100G at all. Finally got email to work with support but no response. I can't even get to my.firewall! Help.

There seems to be an issue with certain ISP's marking the activation email as spam; please try registering with a Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail address or use the link at the top of the forum which does not currently require registration. |

I have not received any response either... It has also been like 3 weeks... And if it is the mail server... Hmmmm, I run my mail server, I run a Merak, and I do not drop any mail, if anything it would get tagged with SPAM in the subject, but nothing gets rejected... This to me is a serious problem if you can't get mail out to servers. As for using a GMail or Yahoo account, I do not see why it would work for them and not me. And I want this linked to my primary mail account not a side account.

I'm having the same trouble as JimeB. IE doesn't recognize that site. I talked to support thru the live person, and they told me I had to connect my laptop directly to the router, which I did, but then because I wasn't connected to my modem the system wouldn't connect to the internet.
So I still haven't been able to set up my router, although I do have ZA security suite. I'm very surprised that you can't get into the Z100G through an IP address without having to go to my.firewall. Can anyone help with this issue? BTW, I only have my one laptop on my network, and I don't have any peripherals set up on my router. |

First of all, you should be able to connect to the firewall through any Ethernet port and ping 192.168.10.1. If not, you are not picking up an IP address from the router. You have to be hardwired to the unit for initial setup so you are in the same subnet as the router interface. This is part of the security features. Make sure you reboot the laptop once connected so it does a DHCP request for an IP. Once you are set up, the IP address of the inside firewall interface is 192.168.10.1, which is the same as typing my.firewall. After you go through initial setup, then you can use it as a wireless router too. Keep trying. The "difficulty" of the plug and play setup is mainly because of the security features built in. That's a good thing. I do think the registration process must be simplified big time. Sending an email to someone and then being in the dark for several days is a BOZO NO NO in customer service and support. the rocket |

Thank you so much, rocket. I knew there must be an interface, but surely couldn't find anything online about it. I'll mess with that tomorrow.

OK y'all. Just another question. Can you tell I'm not a techie?
The cable that came with the router has one USB end and another end that doesn't connect either to the router or to my laptop. What do I need to do (or buy) to hardwire my router to my laptop? The support guy I talked to told me I needed a double-ended USB cable, of which I'm having a very difficult time finding where I live. HELP!! TIA Meredith |

No, you don't need a USB cable. The cable you have should be a double ended CAT5 or CAT6 patch cable like this one
. It connects to one of the four LAN ports in the back of the Z100G and then into a similar port on your laptop. After connecting, turn on the router then turn on the laptop. You SHOULD be able to get to my.firewall.the rocket |

Thanks Rocket.
That cable isn't the one that came with my router. I did buy a CAT 6 cable, but like a dummy I didn't shut down my system before I connected everything. DUH! Anyway, now I know what to do thanks to your help. Hardware isn't my forte, software is. But I'm learning! Meredith |

Good luck. Let me know if you need any more assistance. One thing I keep pressing on about is that security is serious: I was hacked several times using another product.
The Z100G may appear to fall short in support, setup hassles, and registration, but at the end of the day, you are secure. I cannot say that about any other home hardware product. Even some of the firewall software is suspect. This is business-class security for the home. I see a person on this board once in while give up on setting this thing up and go out and buy and "Dlink" or "Linksys" device that's "easy" to set up. Here's my take on that: The easier it is to set up, the easier it is to hack. Ask any security expert what they think about Checkpoint (parent of Zonelabs and the software that is in this router) and they will tell you that they are second to none in security. the rocket |
