I purchased a Z100G router a couple of weeks ago and had no problems ***embling and configuring it for both hard wired and wireless connections. A far cry from the N*tG**R madness I experienced eventually finding out most of it was not my fault. But the current problem I ***ume is from my lack of knowledge. Please help!!! I have one desk top and one wireless laptop connected to the Z100G at present with not a single problem except one. I cannot seem to install my HP officejet 5510xi with it plugged into the print server on the Z100G. I followed the instructions to the letter supplied with the router with no results. In fact every time but one it locked my computer up, regardless of whether or not i plugged the usb cable from the printer into the router before or after i started the hp software install. The one time it didn't the hp software said that the install failed. I read on a review that a user had problems installing his Hp on the Z100G until he got an updated driver from HP. I went to the HP downloads/software page and found new divers even a driver they call the "corporate edition" which says it is for those who want basic print and scan options when using a network server. I tried it with no luck as well. I may not have performed the install correctly though I later found out because it says it requires execution from the command line using the setup.exe command. I have not had any other issues with the hard wired computer (a new build) or the Z100G router. And for those of you wondering i have Zone alarm security suite that is always off while attemping the install. Additionally, when I log into the "my.firewall" page I can see the printer connected under the "Network-ports" heading as it should be and recognized as a USB device with the port number ***ignment of 9100. I bought the printer when it first came out and have never had any problems connecting it to any other computer directly. Please don't tell me that it is obsolete.....I might cry. I wanted to ask someone who might know before I tried anything drastic....thanks.

Sorry you are having so much trouble.

It's not that your printer is obsolete, but many HP printers have issues with Print servers in general, because HP has always written their drivers around the applications they support. This has always been a pain in the butt.

If you haven't already, please contact support at Sofaware and see if they can resolve it. I have hooked up many print servers, but I have a network-based printer now and do not use the print server function on this unit.
