Switched out my Linksys wireless router for the Z100G. It will not connect to the internet, did the setup wizard, basically used the same settings as for the Linksys (PPoE, correct username and password). Verizon modem is a Westell 2200. Do I have to change something on the Westell modem to get it to work with the Z100g? Is it an issue that the internal IPs on the Z100g are different than the Linksys was using (192.168.1.x on Linksys and 192.168.10.x on the Z100g).

Anyone have any ideas here? This is really frustrating.

Hello Gromit,

I don't have Westell or Verizon but generally the DSL providers capture a MAC address off the first device that boots up on the LAN side of the DSL modem and only permits that device to access until the MAC address is reset. The easiest way to do that is the power down the DSL Modem and the router, then power them up in the same order: DSL MODEM -----> Z100G with a about a minute or two between. The LAN addresses (192.168.10.x) shouldn't be an issue other than you should reboot each computer to capture the new IP scheme.

That said, there have been several threads about Westell DSL modems over the past couple of years so if this doesn't work, try searching the forum for Westell to see if others have a solution.

Try calling Verizon support. I think that I had this same problem when I replaced a router behind the Westell cable modem that was using DSL. Verizon had to do something on their end to have the system recognize the new router. All I know is that when we called them they fixed the problem onver the phone and all worked great.
