I have been experiencing a problem with outlook express 6 timing out using POP3. I have been directed to Microsoft by my email host and Microsoft says the problem is with my (Zone alarm Z100G router) antivirus scanning.
Ref http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/813518 This problem has been observed in some configurations that use antivirus software to scan e-mail. The products in which this problem occurs may vary. However, these symptoms have been observed in configurations that include Norton Internet Security 2005, Norton AntiVirus 2003, Norton AntiVirus 2002, or McAfee software products. Can anyone tell me what the fix is? This issue is driving me nuts. Thanks for any and all help. |

I'm not using outlook express - but in outlook there is a place to set the timeout value -
On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next. Click the e-mail account you want to change, and then click Change. Click More Settings, and then click the Advanced tab. Under Server Timeouts, move the slider toward Long. Click OK, click Next, and then click Finish. Oops - searching the net - I see outlook express does have a server timeout setting: Outlook Express Timeout setting http://forum.spamcop.net/forum...x.php?showtopic=3822 Maybe that will help. |

I agree with first looking at the ISP's webmail and deleting the first mail or a mail with a large attachment.
From: http://forum.kaspersky.com/lof...ndex.php/t25167.html If you want to have an AV scan your emails then don't use OE. Use Eudora, Thunderbird, Seamonkey, etc. Microsoft says to never use an AV to scan OE. You asking for trouble and for corruption of the delicate OE store database. As for that error, if you are getting it only on mail with attachments then you may have a piece of mail with a very large attachment that is "stuck". Use your ISP's webmail to view and then delete that particular email. If your ISP doesn't have webmail, there are free webmail services you can use or you can do it the old fashioned way and telnet into the email server into your account and find the stuck message that way. Also, corrupt mail (missing headers, etc) can cause this and must be deleted either through webmail, use of telnet to access your account, or calling your ISP and having them delete it. You might have a corrupt pop3uidl file. You can try closing all programs and disconnecting from the internet and then deleting this file. Reconnect and repeat with a reboot before opening your email again. |

First of all I saw similar situation no one and I know what need to do,always I use-how to recover inbox.dbx, because tool has free status and has many other capabilities,it supports a great number of features, that turns email into a powerful tool to run business, program analyzes all files of dbx format from Outlook Express root directory and unpacks messages, even if these files are infected or seriously damaged, recover Outlook Express dbx file is compatible with Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows Me and even Windows 98, that is currently not supported by Microsoft Corporation, all versions of Outlook Express are supported too.
