Anyone have any idea why I'm experiencing a very high Wrong NWID/ESSID error rate of 1001538 in less than a month? I have the Hide The Network Name (SSID) checked YES in the Advanced Security area under the WLAN settings.
It is not due to the hide SSID. It means there is another WiFi device working somewhere in the appliance range and it's working on the same frequency so it can handle it just fine however it might be wise to change the channel of the Z100 Security Router to minimize the number of recorded errors.
Also, you said another WiFi device working somewhere in the appliance range and it's working the same frequency .......... You're talking about another wireless router in range of the Z100G and not the two wireless network cards I am using, right?
OK, I took a chance and restarted the Z100G and it reset the counter for NWID/ESSID errors to zero.
Still curious if you are talking about another WiFi device (meaning someone else's router outside my house) that's in range of the Z100G and not the two network cards I use on my wireless devices.
I understand the Router part but if the two LAN cards are set up properly, accessing the same channel that I selected on the Z100G, using the same mode,WPA settings, etc. Is there a reason there are so many errors? Changing the channel dropped the error rate dramatically, from in the 100K range over a 30 day period to a little over 1K over night. Is the 1K error rate a normal occurrence for a home WLAN with 2 wireless cards or am I looking at other potential outside problems?
I understand the technology. So, my assumption is, since my WLAN is set up correctly, that I may have other devices (neighbors???) interfering with my count.
