Hi all,
Any one here has successfully paired a Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE/5 with the Z100G firewall using WPA-TKIP? I can not, I'm always getting the "4-way handshake failed" on the report screen. Any advice? -------------------------------- so far so good |

I also try using Wi-Fi® Companion on my pocket pc device with no luck either...
"Wi-Fi Companion provides users with a friendly, easy-to-use interface to manage WLAN connectivity. The main page icons provide single tap access to browse the web or check email, find WLANs in range, install security certificates, view IP addresses or modify profiles." Maybe the pocket pc tcp stack is messed up somewhere... but if it works on: motorola, linksys and dryteck the problem must be in the Z100G Any one else here can share his/her experience? -------------------------------- so far so good |

I just finished working with Tech Support to get my Windows Mobile 5 smartphone working with the WLan. They have an "in-house-only" tool they can use to set the 100G to TKIP instead of automatic. They had to remotely access the router to use this utility. Once they did this it worked fine. I hope they build this into upcoming releases!

I know tech support is ok, but thats a workarround and I need a solution not a workarround. I'm not desperate, so I'm gonna wait until this is worked out in a new firmware or when I'm in a desperate need I'll contact tech support. Thanks eny way for the heads up! -------------------------------- so far so good |

Heh iv had heterogenous wireless issues..
I tend to get laptops that occasionally fail handshake (setting them to TKIP resolved it) My Sirius Stiletto 100 will occasionally fail to handshake...(esp if theres one laptop set to AES)... The only other wireless issue i have is two nintendo devices that want WEP not WPA2.. though i completely understand why theres no mixed mode but I sorta wish i could give them what they need without dumbing everything down to WEP level... might end up just getting another wireless gateway and setting it to take wireless B/G with WEP only with mac locking.. (ZAs mac address locking system is another spot that could use a little work) Yeah putting in a manual control for AES/TKIP might be a handy solution instead of *automatic* |

There is a known issue with certain PDA's (especially old PDA's running Win. 2003) with the WPA security feature - we are working hard at providing a resolution for this issue ASAP.

I have had this problem also
i talked to the support and they said to do the following after setting the tkip please set Multimedia QoS (WMM) to Disabled (under Show Advanced Settings) this did the trick they said that they will post this solution in their KB as well |

Good to hear that it work for you and thanks for the heads up, but I'm still with no luck on this regard. I try what you said, but I'm still getting the "4-way handshake failed" on the report screen. :( -------------------------------- so far so good |

Hooray - My PDA now connects OK it may be a workaround but setting the Z100G to use TKIP and disabling the Multimedia QoS (WMM)certainly seem to work. I can now gain access to e-mail and browse the Internet with explorer on my HP6340 PDA.
So now all we need as other have said is the "real" fix - not the work around. I can also say that the MAC address filtering also works OK. As does my horrible 63 character passphrase. So we are nearly there :-) |

We will soon implement an option to choose one of three cipher suite's for the WPA: Auto/AES/TKIP This is a work around which is mandatory because of the factors that cause it; namely some devices when faced with three encryption methods don't know what to do (sorta speak) and won't connect, others can handle this phase fine but when faced with our many options for wireless are "baffled" and won't connect. As a result some appliance's must have the WLAN WPA manually set to TKIP (usually) or AES (rarely) manually and some won't connect with WMM enabled because "they don't know what to do". The only solution would be to only use TKIP and/or not support WMM. We aim at supporting multiple protocols and methodologies all in accordance with official protocols. |

7.0.38 has just found its way onto the Z100G but despite setting TKIP (which is now an option) and disabling WMM my PDA fails to connect with many MIC Failures in the report file - any ideas for this version?

OK Sorted - something must have got corrupted on the Z100G - reset everything and now it all seems to work OK.
Then I tried something which was to change the WMM setting to enabled and back to disabled when you save the network setting it seems to corrupt the pre shared key - re-entering the key restores connectivity. (The PDA will not connect at all with WMM enabled) Looks like a support call now... Is that the same for anyone else? |

WMM setting disabled over here, I never use it so is no problem for me.
