About 3-weeks ago, I lost internet connectivity. Cable modem checked out OK. Direct connection (bypassing router) from cable modem to PC fixed problem. Had no changes to 'my.firewall,' so I figured it was a Z100G hardware problem. Bought a new one, as I was pleased with the past performance.
New Z100G arrives. Set-up according to manual, but router still cannot connect to the service center. Cable modem checks out OK. Direct connection from cable modem to PC fixes problem. Here's a list of what things look like from my end for all those wireheads who can diagnose via telepathy. - Typing in zone.sofaware.com in the service center results in non-connectivity. - Network Connection on PC shows PC is "connected" when router is connected, but still no internet access. - Firewall/Spamware/Spyware all shut down. - Z100G display: Power-slow blinking green; LAN--Green/Green; WAN--Green/blinking green; USB (printer)--Green; WLAN--Green (but wireless connection fails via laptop) - My.firewall 'ping' to my PC is successful Thoughts? |

Uh.. did you clone your mac address?
Some cable companies still lock down their modems by their MAC address... (as in thats why you can connect directly from your computer to the cable modem, try setting the ZA100 to appear as if it has your PCs mac address.. (its in the configuration somewhere) Also, try power cycling the modem after the Za100 is connected *in addition* to doing the mac address change.. Tell me if that gets yah up and running. -geek |

easier then the cloning try this :
Cable modems work by recognization of Mac so you might need to do the following : * Disconnect the Cable modem from the Z100 and unplug both from the electricity . * Plug in the Cable modem to the electricity . * Let it load completely * Once it is done you can connect it to the WAN port of the Z100 * Now plug in the Z100 to the electricity . * Once it has loaded completely open the http://192.168.10.1 page * Go to Network > Internet > Edit , set it to Cable and see if it will connect then As for the service center , if you changed the unit you need to activate this one again like you did the first one . So once you have connected it go to http://www.sofaware.com/activate . Wendy Rakovitski Senior Engineer Sofaware Technical Support |
