So I've this router and I also have a repeater downstairs that I use to connect to my PS3 since the wireless signal is very weak downstairs (2 floors down) No problems there since I've internet and all that on the PS3, however I've NAT 3 type. In the router downstairs I've DMZ so I know the reason for the NAT 3 is not the repeater, which leads me to this router. Is there any way to get rid of the NAT 3? Do I've to do something on this router for that to happen?

Nope.. not yet.. the usual trick of setting the device to DMZ doesn't seem to work with the PS/3

Might want to email support and ask about this... Its one of the more annoying "known" issues.

Has there been any update on this from Sofaware? This issue has been known for quite some time with no official response that I have seen.

Then again, those whose subscriptions have run out would need to pay for any update they may or may not ever be released to resolve this. Sigh...certainly unique in the non-enterprise hardware world.

All you have to do is allow & forward the correct ports to get a NAT 2 type with the PS3.

Have you got his going yourself? If so, please specify (the necessary ports) for those of us who haven't. We'd much appreciate it! :)

I am stuck as well. none of the steps have worked in getting me out of nat 3. I have no control on voice communications as a result. Sony publishes all the port numbers so missing one is not an issue. I have spent 8 hours over the last 3 days trying configurations and researching what may be wrong. for the life of me I can see nothing that should prevent this from working

My brother and a friend of mine both need buy a new router for use with their PS3. I wish I would recommend the Z100G to them but with this glaring issue and the required subscription to update your firmware I can hardly even consider it.

I do not have a PS3 myself, but I did support a few customers with this issue.
Sony recommends the following ports:
* TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223
* UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658
As with allow & forward rule source should be WAN or Any, destination This Gateway.
If this doesn't help, I suggest opening a ticket.

Ido.

Thanks for your reply Ido. I tried your suggested settings but unfortunately it did not have any effect.

That said, even creating the below custom rules for each direction did not have any effect:

Allow
Any service
PS3 <-> Any

If this has been previously reported and resolved by Software why can't the fix/resolution be posted in the forums for all to see?

This means that those of us without a subscription must effectively pay to see find out how to get this working which is not a good thing for anyone (customers nor Software in the long run).

That said, if effectively placing the PS3 in a DMZ does not resolve this problem I don't see how any custom rule can resolve this. I imagine a new firmware will be required in this case. But sadly this leaves many out in the cold once again...sigh.

The Z100G doesn't have any DMZ settings, are you referring to "Exposed Host"?
Allow rule for any service doesn't affect NAT.

As the forum is not an official support channel, to further debug this issue you will need to either open a ticket or contact us via the live chat tool.

Ido.

Thank you for your reply Ido. My apologies, I was incorrect in stating DMZ and yes, I meant exposed host allowing any services in both directions to the specified device.

Does contacting support or opening a ticket require a renewal of Z100G subscription? If there is a valid fix for this I don't see why the solution can't be posted here for all to see as this appears to be common problem for many users. Keeping the solution secret for those who have a subscription only would not be not a good thing.

Opening a ticket does not require renewal of subscriptions.

We do not keep the solution secret, I posted above how this issue is normally solved with customers who did open a ticket, since in your case you say it doesn't, we will need to examine your setup in particular.

Regards,
Ido.
