I have had my Z100G for a month or two and the only problem I have is that at times I cannot connect to the internet. I have to use the diagnosis connection wizard on the page cannot be displayed page. It does this on start up or if I let it set too long without connection to the internet. It does it on the wired computer and the wirless. Any suggestions? Thanks for looking.

I can think of two possibilities, one being obvious, in that it could be losing connectivity to the ISP if the ISP requires login authentication. What type of internet service is it, DSL, or cable?

The second possibility is that you have other devices that are dhcp enabled and blocking access because they are using up the extra licenses.

I have two laptops and three desktops at my house, but my wife was saying her internet was very spotty. It turns out that my network printer and my Wii console were pulling IP addresses too, thus pushing the 5-user limit to the edge and not allowing the 6th and 7th device to connect. I never expereienced it because I was always on an outgoing VPN connection that was always holding a license to connect.

Any other wi-fi stuff like Tivo, some sattelite TV, PDA's, etc can also suck up a license.

Also could be an issue if hes using a dsl modem/router combination, i had issues with dhcp addresses being taken *before* the za100 when i first got it... and the sofa didnt seem to re-obtain the address...

Had to put that crappy westell327r in bridge mode after the initial auto-firmware update before i could get it to play reliably..

Also when you configure it, you want to do the initial configuration via wired.. youll have less hassles.. Hope something there helped...

Wow, thanks for the fast reponses. The issue with the westell 327 might be a good possiblity because that is the same router I have. Could you give directions on how to put it in bridge mode. I do know how to get to the router menu by typing the address into the browser. I disabled the wireless part of the westell when I installed the z100g. Thanks.

Clipped from another forum, hence the quotes

[QUOTE]For bridge mode:

1) Assign a local static IP address to the Versalink router. Let's say the local IP address that you will assign your router is going to be 192.168.1.1. Give your Versalink a local address with a different IP address: 192.168.1.2

Go to Configuration --> Advanced LAN --> Private LAN settings and enter the IP address. Enter a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

2) On the Versalink turn off DHCP.

Go to Configuration --> Advanced LAN --> Private LAN, and uncheck "Private LAN DHCP Server Enable".

3) On the Versalink enable "Private LAN"

Go to Configuration --> Advanced LAN --> Private LAN, and uncheck DHCP and check "Private LAN enabled".

4) Configure the Versalink for "bridge" mode so it does not do DSL authentication but rather sends that signal and responsibility over to the router

4a) Go to Configuration --> Advanced WAN --> WAN

4b) Edit the VCI that has "enabled" in the status windows (this is usually the first VCI)

A window will pop up entitled "VC 1 Configuration".

4c) Go to the bottom half to the section entitled "VC 1 – Bridge Settings"

4d) Go to the "Mode" drop down box and select "Bridge"

4e) Click on "Set VC" at the bottom to save your setting.

Click OK and OK.

When the modem comes back from resetting, it will be in bridge mode.QUOTE]

Let me add one thing they left out
DISABLE THE WIRELESS NETWORKING before you change the mode to Bridge... you are better off having your Za100 authenticate AND handle the WIFI.... and having the westells wifi running just interferes with things..

(forget which setting this is... but its in one of the wireless menus.. your turning it OFF)
