Just updated my router to the 7.5.51a firmware from 7.0.x and have noticed disconnects in the logs every 1 hour 55 minutes and 3 seconds.

02477 24Mar2008 08:40:48 Primary Local Area Network (LAN) connection established, IP 72.78.220.XXX was assigned
02476 24Mar2008 08:40:46 Primary Local Area Network (LAN) connection terminated after 1 hour(s), 55 minute(s), 3 second(s)

This happens like clockwork. Probably wouldn't have even noticed this however it breaks my Aruba AP's VPN, and THAT takes about 1 minute to reconnect.

Thoughts? Normal DHCP Renew process?

ISP: Verizon FIOS via DHCP.

I noticed this too on my Time Warner cable modem. replaced the modem and cable line and it still happens. Have you tried making the DMZ port as WAN2 and trying that?

I had horrible drops with 7.5.51x. I got into the EA program and version 8 is better, but not as good as when I have 7.0.something on there. I'm actually relieved its not just me!

Don't go riding on that long black train.

I don't get it... this is basic functionality. Wonder why it hasn't come up more often???

Who can I contact about the early access program... or should I say who should I contact? Running a Nokia IP60 here.

I'm afraid the IP60 is not supported by us .
But by Nokia itself .
Please contact them for support .

The saga continues.... Contacted Nokia. They contacted Checkpoint. Checkpoint says it is a sofaware problem. Too many support folks in the mix here.

Such basic functionality that doesn't work right....

Yes. Same exact behavior. I have tried FW version 7.5.42 and up with the same result.

This is exactly what checkpoint suggested. It didn't see to help at all. I am not using the DSL modem, just a straight DHCP connection......

Kinda odd that the disconnects are consistent. Have you tried to perform a packet capture (not familiar with the Nokia IP40/60 appliance) to see if the device is receiving something on that interface that could cause a disconnect. Malformed packet etc....

Upgrade to an EA version of Firmware?

Other than possibly trying to use another physical port on the device for Internet side, I would attempt the hardware replacement route (if you have that level of support).

NO need for hardware replacement. This is reproducable at my site as well. VPN-1 Edge connected to Verizon FIOS. Every hour, 55 minutes and 3 seconds Verizon sends a DHCP Renew packet (Yes, I've sniffed it if anyone wants to see it). It causes the router to show the disconnect and re-establishment of the same IP address is already had, BUT with one damaging affect. It will kill any open connections at the time (especially music and video streams). So you can imagine everything going dead ever hour and 55 minutes.

Please, please we need some help with this one. I've posted in several forums including CP & Sofaware but no help so far. Any help is appreciated.

It wouldn't be the first time a packet (malformed or otherwise) crashed a system. Your best bet is perform a complete packet capture (not from the gateway, but from a system that is tapping the interface) and send it in to either Nokia/CheckPoint/SofaWare for testing.

To be honest while the issue can be reproduce it doesn't mean it isn't a hardware issue specific to the few devices/users listed above.

I have a ticket open with Nokia, Checkpoint, and Sofaware. Looks like sofaware gave me a firmware to test out via Checkpoint, via Nokie.

I sent Checkpoint a log while running a debug firmware with DHCP debugging enabled.

Bottom line: you get what you pay for. I will going with a higher range Nokia IP system running Sourcefire in the future.

Sofaware is a joke.
