Hi,

Our SMP is installed with a backup at another location via a check point vpn over the internet.

We have noticed that the sboxes can automatically switch over to the backup server but only when the primary server is online.

if our primary server fails, such as a power problem or hardware fault, the backup server does not accept subscriptions from the sboxes, hence services such as web filtering stop working and require "snooze" passwords.

butr if the primary server is online, then the backup server accepts sboxes connecting to it.

how do we rectify this problem?

Hi Ed,

The problem you're describing may happen if the secondary server is configured to access only the DB located on the primary server.
So when the primary is down the secondary server can't authenticate the boxes.

You can verify this using the server status page in SMC->System->Servers->[secondary server]->status. The DB configuration is on the bottom of the page.

In order to fix this, you can edit the [BACKUP_DB] section in the %SMP_HOME%\instances\<instance_name>\conf\SWManagementServer.ini file, to point to your secondary DB.

You are welcomed to contact SofaWare's support if the issue is not resolved.

Best Regards,
Eyal
