Iv noticed that if a computer is setup to run IPv6 (which happens to be the default in both Ubuntu linux and Vista, the problem is it usually times out before it obtains a DHCP lease... What *should* be happening is the router hanging around long enough to see the computer fallback to IP4 and not just timeout the DHCP request... Yes setting all clients to ip4 seems to resolve this dhcp timeout issue but it really should be handled better by the ip4 device. (if im reading this correctly, feel free to add/clarify if im off...)
negotiation from the client is in the order of Ip6 DHCP(not needed for main address but for configuration), IP4 DHCP, local |
