I absolutely love my S@O 500W. It far surpasses both the Sonicwall SoHo and Watchguard boxes I used over the years.

I have two problems. One, I have exactly 5 nodes behind the S@O. One of them has both LAN and Wifi. When switching between the two, I go over the 5-node limit and can't browse the Internet for an hour.

So, I solved that problem by upgrading to 25 node. It was an expensive upgrade (not just for the upgrade but also the higher annual support and web filtering fees) but I felt it was worth the added expense.

But now (problem 2) I can no longer purchase the web filtering services separately. It has been bundled with anti-virus, anti-spam, etc. I don't need these extra services. I'm sure they are great services but I have other solutions in place.

The only was I can get the web filtering is to buy the bundle. The bundled subscription and the support are over $500 now. Annually.

I just can't afford that. I've been delaying renewal in hopes I can find some other vendor that still sells the web filtering add on separately. I have failed. It is no longer offered.

So today I placed an order for a Firebox Edge x10w. It comes with 3 years of support and 1 year of web filtering. Total cost is less than my S@Office renewal would have been.

The Firebox Edge is fine. My old one required a reboot if I even THOUGHT about changing a network setting. Hopefully, they've improved. While it's a perfectly adequate device, it's nothing compared to the wonderful S@O.

Maybe someday, the Sofaware services will be available a la carte again and I'll be able to come back. I hope so.

We have the same problems here!
Multiple users have posted suggestions for lower user licenses and splitting webfiltering from antivirus again.

Is there anyone from sofaware who reads these suggestions? Wink

apparently not....

sadly Check Point is one of the few companies who totally fail to implement anything the end user would like...

Count the replies to the posts in this section - apart from the 'we will consider' ones...
