We're running an R55 HFA17 SmartCenter with an Edge-16X running 6.0.76 firmware that has been flawless for six months. This particular Edge is an internal firewall and cannot be rebooted indiscriminately because it stops production.

We recently added a second Edge-16X with the 6.5.43 firmware. We upgraded libsw to 6.5.43. When we tried to push policy to it, it whined about the wrong policy: "expected 400 got 300".

In sofawareloader.ini, the policy version is 305. Since we're on HFA17, a problem like this isn't supposed to happen. I opened a case with CP and was told to change the policy version in sofawareloader.ini to 400.

I did and now the policy can be pushed to the 6.5.43 Edge. Unfortunately, the Edge on 6.0.76 immediately shows as "not responding" in SmartviewStatus. When I reported this, I was told that I needed to either upgrade the 6.0 box to 6.5 (can't do that) or need to downgrade the 6.5 box to 6.0, which I did.

While I can push policy to both Edge-X's now, it's a less than optimum solution because I'm stuck on the 6.0 firmware. I can't update the first Edge for another three months.

Is anyone successfully running a 6.0 & 6.5 firmware Edge from a Windows SmartCenter? If so I'd appreciate knowing how you did it.
